OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A state lawmaker says Oklahomans should have the right to protect themselves from perceived danger outside their homes.
Representative Kevin Calvey filed legislation Monday that he calls the ``Stand Your Ground'' law. Similar to a Florida law, Calvey's bill would amend Oklahoma's current ``Make My Day'' law.
The measure would allow residents to use force, even deadly force, to protect themselves when they believe they are in danger in any place a person has a legal right to be. That includes an office, a supermarket or a street.
The ``Make My Day'' law gives Oklahomans the right to protect themselves inside their homes. But Calvey says that right does not extend beyond the home.
