FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ Lufthansa AG plans to create about 2,400 jobs in Germany next year, the airline's chief executive said in comments released Thursday.
``Lufthansa is optimistic for 2006. Air transport remains a dynamically growing industry,'' CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber said in an interview to be published in Friday's Bild newspaper.
The new employees sought by the company include 1,420 cabin staff and 180 trainee pilots, Mayrhuber said.
A Lufthansa spokesman confirmed the comments.
