OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An international rowing competition is coming to Oklahoma City next year.

The US Olympic Committee, in partnership with US Rowing and local organizations, will bring the USA Rowing World Challenge to the city in October 2007.

The event will showcase international rowing talent from the world's most competitive teams as they prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. The ten-day event is expected to attract more than 150 international athletes and 50,000 spectators.

Headquarters will be at the new $3.5-million Chesapeake Boathouse with rowing on the Oklahoma River championship course.

The local organizing committee includes the University of Central Oklahoma, the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation and the Chesapeake Boathouse.
