OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A man involved in a domestic disturbance was shot and killed following a foot chase with an Oklahoma City police officer. Police spokesman Sgt. Paco Balderrama says the officer was chasing the armed suspect through a neighborhood Tuesday night when the shooting occurred.
Police didn't identify the officer or the dead man and released few details about the incident. It is the police department's policy to place all officers involved in shootings on paid administrative leave.
Balderrama says the man was trying to hop a fence when the officer caught up to him. The man was shot when he attempted to grab a gun he was carrying in his waistband.
Oklahoma City Police were told the man had a gun and had kicked some family members out of a unit at a nearby apartment complex.
