TULSA, Okla. - According to the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office they have arrested a murder suspect in a 1990s cold case.
"It was years in the making, but at the end of the day, justice is sometimes slow moving. It happened as a result of the people standing here before you," said Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regaldo.
Officials said they arrested Tommy Edward Harris in connection to a 1992 homicide.
Deputies said Harris shot and killed Kim McVey when Harris and a man named Joe Green were shooting at each other over a drug deal. Deputies said Edward's was arrested in Skiatook while he was at work.
Deputies said McVey's body was found behind a shed a week later.
Rick Lawrence, a 30-year veteran in law enforcement was assign McVey's case a year ago and said he was determined to solve it.
"When you're able to help people, especially the mother of this young lady who died, I was able to call her and tell her that her killer had been arrested," Lawrence said.
Arresting Harris closes the sixth murder case for the task force since January.
