Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry has been brought to a near standstill, but what it’s not stopping is the hardworking men and women that make up the industry.
K3, an oil field services company based in Enid, is using their downtime to give back to the community.
The oil and gas industry was already a little rocky, COVID-19 did no favors.
“There is almost zero production going on,” said K3 owner, Shannon Kelley. “We get a few jobs here and there but when you do, there really isn’t much profit in it these days.”
Kelley and his K3 employees have begun their new career of giving back.
“People who patronize us, why don’t we help them out with the PPE money,” said Kelley. “It is their money already, why don’t we basically give it back to them?”
K3 employees have sanded down and painted park benches. A playground damaged by wind at Youth and Family Services has been repaired. While making the repairs, a firepit was added for kids to make treats.
Kelley said he has a soft spot for children.
“We went in and we took it apart, leveled everything out,” said Kelley. “(We) rebuilt everything, new fasteners, mulch, everything to make it like it should be.”
Kelley and his team have also found time to help replace a broken-down refrigerator at the Senior Citizens Center in Hennessey.
Employees don’t mind helping one bit. Kelley said employees feel it is better to give back than to be doing nothing at home.
“If someone calls us and give us some idea of what they may need or someone that needs it, we are more than willing to help,” said Kelley. “We’ve picked up trash along the roads, we have cleaned up lots, whatever it takes.”
A local t-ball team’s baseball field will be paid a visit next by the team.
For these hardworking men and women, God has sure worked in mysterious ways.
“I think we all leave everyday smiling; we have a good feeling in our heart,” said Kelley. “The Lord has blessed us; we want to bless everyone else.”
