The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum will host its first event since reopening a couple of weeks ago and things are going to look a lot different.

That’s not due to social distancing, but a newly completed massive expansion.

“Liichokoshkomo is the first hands on minds one experience the museum has presented to visitors,” said Chief Program Officer Diana Fields.

Liichokoshkomo is Chickasaw for “Let’s Play.”

The $15 million outside expansion features 100,000 square feet of displays.

You can visit a cliff dwelling, Native American council house and trading post.

7 native tribes are represented with exhibits. There is also a new event center.

“We want people to come and really find themselves,” added Fields.

Meanwhile, visitors are encouraged to still practice social distancing.

Hand washing stations are now available to visitors.

“If you’ve been out at all in the last month, the precautions should be familiar,” said Museum Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Seth Spillman.

Meanwhile the museum will still be hosting events.

Computer software provides guidance of keeping social distances inside rooms and halls.
