The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Clinton Police Department after a 66-year-old woman was found dead. Her body was discovered in a camper off Interstate 40, just east of Clinton.
According to the OSBI, a store clerk at a Love’s Travel Store dialed 911 after noticing a man seemed distressed inside the store, when police arrived and talked to the man, they found the body of Judy Mullin.
“The last thing my auntie said to me was goodbye sweetie, I love you,” said Renee Hill, a niece of the victim. “That was the last thing my auntie said to me.”
Family and friends in California were shocked after receiving news that Judy died.
“I ran into the room to get my mom because that’s her sister and she was screaming and my kids were wondering what’s going on and I still don’t believe that my aunt is gone,” said Hill.
Judy Mullin is from California and traveled to Oklahoma to see her son, 37-year-old Dennis Rigsby who was released from prison earlier this month. He served 17 years for manslaughter.
“They had been in Oklahoma City and had decided to travel back to California and so that’s how they ended up in Clinton when they did,” said Brook Arbeitman, Public Information Officer with the OSBI.
Officials arrived on scene just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday after getting the call about Rigsby seeming distressed inside a convenient store.
“Ultimately they ended up going to a camper that he had been traveling in and they found his mom deceased in the camper,” said Arbeitman.
Hill said her and other family members tried to stop Mullin from going to Oklahoma.
“We were very worried, we were all scared that she was going, but none of us really believed that he would hurt her,” said Hill.
Rigsby was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint. He’s being held at the Custer County jail on a $1 million bond.
