Whirlpool Corporation confirms its Tulsa plant is closed effective immediately due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

More than 1,600 employees work at the plant which is located near 76th Street North and Highway 75.

Officials haven't said how many cases have been confirmed, but said they are conducting an investigation that includes contact tracing.

Whirlpool said anyone who came in close contact with employees that tested positive has been notified and is now in quarantine.

Officials said the plant will be cleaned per CDC guidelines before re-opening.

Whirlpool said it has been increasing distances on its production lines, checking employees temperatures, and requiring all employees wear a mask.

Officials said they plan to reopen early next week and said employees will be contacted directly with more information.
