Oklahoma County Election Board Preparing For Election Day

The Oklahoma County Election Board has been preparing for election day on June 30. The secretary of the board said they have had to make some changes to how they do things because of COVID-19.

The State Election Board has come up with protocols for the counties to follow. They have also sent out sanitation supplies for them to use and hand out to their workers.

“They have supplied masks and gloves,” said Doug Sanderson, the Oklahoma County Election Board Secretary.

On voting day Sanderson said they are also going to be sanitizing through the day on top of putting social distancing measures in place.

“Lines may look really long but there could really be less voters,” said Sanderson.

So far there have been five polling places through Oklahoma County that shut their doors, so before you go out and vote make sure you check which polling place you will need to go to.

If you are uncomfortable going in person to vote Sanderson said the best thing to do would be apply for an absentee ballot. The last day to apply for those is June 23.
