Mustang Public Schools confirmed that a member of its boys basketball team has tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday morning.

MPS said the student last participated in a Thursday practice. At that time, the district said he "cleared screening for participation," which it describes as not having a fever or showing symptoms of the virus.

Out of an abundance of caution, boys basketball summer activities have been suspended over the next 14 days. Coaches and student-athletes have been recommended to self-quarantine while the athletic facility is disinfected.

“Our protocol has been enacted with a continued focus on providing the student-athlete with needed support while mitigating risk to others,” Mustang Public Schools Athletic Director Robert Foreman said in a statement.
