Governor Kevin Stitt said all American and Oklahoma flags on state property will be lowered to half-staff in honor of fallen Tulsa police Sergeant Craig Johnson.
Sgt. Johnson's funeral will be Thursday a 1 p.m. at Victory Christian Church in Tulsa. He will be laid to rest with full honors by the Tulsa Police Honor Guard and Tulsa Police pipes and drums.
The ceremony is open to the public, but the family has asked to keep the service private so there will be no live stream. Facemasks will be handed out at the door.
After the service, a procession will escort Johnson’s body from the church to Foral Haven Cemetery.
Instead of sending flowers, the family is asking you to donate to the Tulsa Police Memorial Fund.
Sgt. Johnson was shot during a traffic stop last Monday then passed away the next day.
He spent 15-years on the force in several different roles. The sergeant was even awarded with the Tulsa Police Department Purple Heart.
“We will forever remember the heroism, courage, and bravery that he displayed while protecting Tulsa for 15 years,” wrote Governor Kevin Stitt in a statement. “I ask Oklahomans to join the First Lady and me in continuing to pray for his family and fellow officers during this time.
