President Donald Trump tweeted Friday that Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., has no plans to change names of military bases.

Trump added that, like him, "Jim is not a believer in 'cancel culture.'

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that the White House "is threatening to veto a massive defense policy bill over a provision that would rename military bases such as Fort Bragg that are named after Confederate officers."

News 9 / News On 6's Washington Bureau reporter Alex Cameron talked to the senator Wednesday about this topic, and Inhofe wasn't as confident then about fighting off the name changes.

"I just don't think it should be done," Inhofe said. "Now, whether or not I'll prevail and to what level I'll prevail I don't know."
