Approximately 100 inmates tested positive for COVID-19 at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections said Monday.
The corrections department received positive test results for four inmates of the facility on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Through contact tracing, three pods were placed under quarantine and testing began on 184 inmates.
Out of the 184, 100 tested positive and 84 tests returned negative, ODOC spokesman Justin Wolf said. Staff received the results on Friday, Aug. 14.
In response, the whole unit has been quarantined.
Nine staff members were tested. Eight were negative and one test is still pending.
