The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man they said staged his mother's death to make it look like an accident.
Detectives said they found notes in the sons bedroom that outlined how to stage a murder.
Police said 58-year-old Scott Wade called 911 and said he found his 80-year-old mother dead on her back patio. An arrest report said Scott Wade told police it was an accident, that his mother fell and hit her head.
"The son had already turned her over so she was face up," said Officer Jeanne Pierce with Tulsa Police. "He said that she had fallen and hit her head. There was a laceration to her head."
Police said the victim had dirt caked in her mouth, ear and nose. Detectives searched the house and found several notes in Wade's room that outlined steps on how to stage a murder.
The arrest report said some of the notes talked about the pros and cons to murdering someone. The report said the notes also talked about how to leave no sign of foul play and not leave any marks.
It also said there were notes about choking someone and how to wear gloves so you don't leave any DNA. Police said they found a pair of latex gloves with dirt on them in Wade's room.
"There was also another note that said something about leaving a book out to make it look like she was reading. There was a book that was located next to the victim by the back patio,” Pierce said.
Officer said neighbors told them Wade and his mother have argued several times.
Police said this is why they send officers to every report of a death.
"I think for any individual to think about killing your parent, it just makes it hit more home because you think, 'well I would never do this, or I wouldn’t want to do this, why would they,'” said Pierce.
Officers said after they arrested Wade, he tried to break his glasses and cut his wrist but they were able to stop him.
