Inmate Accused Of Staging Mother's Murder Dies By Suicide Inside Cell

A Tulsa man accused of killing his 80-year-old mother has died by suicide while in jail Tuesday night.

58-year-old Scott O'neal Wade was booked into jail on Sunday night.

According to an incident report from the Tulsa County Jail, Wade used a bedsheet to hang himself. A deputy who had just come on duty found Wade and another deputy cut the sheet around Wade's neck. EMSA took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead Tuesday evening.

Wade was arrested on Monday and was accused of killing his 80-year-old mother and then staging it to look like an accident. Several notes were found in Wade's bedroom outlining methods to stage a murder. Detectives say several of those steps matched the crime scene to a tee.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office declined a request for interview or comment. The Sheriff's office is still doing its own investigation.
