Oklahoma's Own Blake Shelton made a big impact on some Oklahoma foster children by taking them fishing.
It's no secret Shelton loves to hunt and fish and introducing children to the outdoors is something that also means a lot to him.
On Saturday, Shelton invited several foster children out to one of his Oklahoma farm ponds for a day of fishing.
He helped teach the children how to fish and they reeled in some bass and sunfish. The kids also learned how to fillet their catches. Then they had a big fish fry to wrap up the unforgettable day with one of country music's biggest stars.
The Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation donated all the gear and the kids got to take everything home so they can keep on fishing.
Shelton is an Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation board director. He hosted the fishing event through the newly-formed “Fostering Outdoor Oklahoma Families” program, which is a partnership with the OWCF, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and Oklahoma Department of Human Services. The program was created to show foster children and their families all the fun they can have in the outdoors.
News On 6 first shared about the initiative last week when the first “Foster Family Fishing Day” launched at South Lakes Park in Oklahoma City.

Volunteers with ODWC, OWCF and OKDHS helped out during both fishing events.
The agencies plan to host similar events in other parts of the state in the future.
