The Owasso Education Foundation and district administrators traveled on a school bus to reward several teachers with grant money that will be used to fund new classroom items.

The bus traveled to each school site and surprised nearly 40 teachers with the money on Thursday morning.

Brooke Clark, President of the Owasso Education Foundation, said many teachers applied for grants and a committee narrowed down which ones would be funded.

Clark said nearly 40 teachers will receive a grant to purchase new items for their classroom.

Sarah Wehner, a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Mills Elementary, was one of the lucky teachers to receive funding. She plans to purchase an interactive whiteboard and other items to help students have fun while learning.

“Grants like this change our world,” said Wehner. “It takes learning to a whole new level, and it allows us to learn through play.”

The Owasso Education Foundation said $68,000 in grants were rewarded. All of the money was raised through fundraising.
