An auto-pedestrian crash happened Tuesday night and left a 24-year-old man dead.

Hunter Smith was wearing dark clothing and walking down a Norman street when he was hit by a car, police said.

"That is part of the investigation, to determine why and which he was walking along this portion of the roadway, he was wearing extremely dark clothing," said Sarah Jensen with the Norman Police Department said.

Tuesday night, a woman was driving northbound near NW 36th and Pioneer Street when she called 911. She told police she thought she hit something.

"She knew that she hit something. So when officers arrived on the scene, they determined it was a pedestrian," said Jensen.

Officials said Smith suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

"That individual was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries there," said Jensen.

Police said 39-year-old Julie Lam was the driver involved in the crash and she stayed on the scene to talk to officials.

"Through the course of the investigation, we determined that the driver involved did not show any indications of impairment. She has been fully corporative and called authorities as soon as the collision occurred," said Jensen.

As of right now, no charges have been filed against Lam.

Now, officials have a message for both drivers and pedestrians.

"Our message is really to the pedestrian to avoid walking in the roadway. Make sure you are wearing some type of reflective maybe vest or something to notify drivers you are in the area," said Jensen.

Norman police and OU police are still investigating the deadly crash.
