Warr Acres police released new information Wednesday related to a trio of wanted shoplifters who were involved in a pursuit. The suspects were taken into custody after the pursuit ended on Tuesday near Interstate 40 and Council Road.

They were known to travel down the turnpike from Tulsa to steal over-the-counter medication from metro stores. According to Warr Acres police, however, their shoplifting streak came to an end on Tuesday.

“Warr Acres police responded to a call of a reported larceny at the Walgreens at 39th and MacArthur,” Warr Acres Police Department chief Roger Patty said. “The officers got to the scene and realized the description of the suspects matched a description of people we’ve been looking for.”

A Warr Acres officer spotted 34-year-old Jasmine Barnett, 18-year-old America Brown and a juvenile driving near Northwest 50th and MacArthur Boulevard. The car picked up speed when the driver realized the officer was following them. It quickly turned into a dangerous pursuit throughout the metro.

“At one point, the suspects stopped,” Patty said. “One bailed out of the vehicle on foot.”

The car kept going through Bethany and northwest Oklahoma City. Bob Mills SkyNews 9 was overhead as the chase ended near I-40 and Council Road.

Officers found thousands of dollars of alleged stolen goods in the car.

“We recovered quite a bit of stolen merchandise,” Patty said. “There’s bags and bags of stolen merchandise in this vehicle.”

All three suspects were arrested. The two adults were booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a number of misdemeanor and felony complaints, including grand larceny.

Warr Acres police said this is an ongoing investigation. They will be working with other metro agencies they believe the suspects could be involved with other thefts.
