Holland Hall and Lincoln Christian will meet Friday night in Edmond in the 3A state title game.
This is the Dutch's first championship game appearance since joining the OSSAA five years ago, and they'll be looking to "snag" a gold ball.
"It’s off us and we are the only team that is going to stop us,” Holland Hall wide receiver and cornerback Marc Gouldsby said.
Holland Hall enters the 3A title game undefeated with six shutout wins. The Dutch will face defending state champ Lincoln Christian, who also sports a perfect record.
"To play the number one team and the team that’s 26-0, you can't your kids can't get more hyped than this,” Holland Hall Head Coach Tag Gross said.
Holland Hall is playing in their first state title game. Gross has led the program for 21 seasons, and he will be coaching for his first gold ball. Nothing would be better than for his 14 seniors than ending the 26-game win streak for the Lincoln Bulldogs Friday night at UCO.
The Dutch defense is giving up less than seven points a game and one of its leaders is Marc Gouldsby... who has three interceptions on the year.
"Very few people throw at him but when they have, he has made plays and then offensively he has been a thrill,” Gross said.
Born and raised in Haskell, Gouldsby spends most of his time away from the field fishing, which he said has made him better at football.
"I mean any ball come my way I'm going to snag it,” Gouldsby said. “I pulled bass just like that."
