Oklahoma Senator James Lankford has joined in pushing a bill to help prepare communities for disaster.
Safeguarding Tomorrow through Ongoing Risk Mitigation, or STORM act, was introduced earlier this year and according to Lankford's office, it will allow FEMA to help states create revolving loan funds for mitigation projects.
Lankford's office also said the funds would reach communities faster than traditional FEMA grants
The bill has passed the Senate and will now head to Congress for approval.
