Two of Oklahoma's elected leaders applauded the passage of a new bill meant to ensure funding for Urban Indian Health Providers.
Senator James Lankford introduced the Senate bill in May in response to issues impacting Tribal healthcare. Oklahoma Congressman Markwayne Mullin also supported the bill in Congress.
The bill amends the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, offering the same malpractice liability to Urban Indian Organizations as other Native American health care providers.
The bill passed the United States House and Senate last week.
