The pandemic has us all feeling a little rundown, to say the least.
The OKC Dodgers, like so many other minor league teams have had to get creative as they’re going on 17 months of a Dodger-less diamond.
“When we think about, we’re not able to put professional baseball games on the field, then we begin to look at it through a different lens, and how can we use this ballpark creatively," said OKC Dodgers President/GM Michael Byrnes.
With so many people still using home as their base of operation for work, the Dodgers had an idea. Why not work from home…plate?
“So many people have been stuck at home for so long, working remotely. With the capability to work remotely, why not do it from the ballpark rather than from a home office," said Byrnes.
Beginning February 3, for $95 dollars a day or $400 a week, you can work your 9-5 between first and third with all the office amenities you’ll need.
“Being here, being in this environment, it’s such a fun place to be. Getting some sunshine like we’re getting today and seeing the beautiful green grass, I think it motivating, so we hope it can provide some extra productivity for the some of the people that want to come out and work here," said Byrnes.
As for when we’ll see the Dodgers in the ballpark again, that’s uncertain.
The MLB season is set to start on time, which is good news for the minors. But there is still no schedule out for the OKC Dodgers or other minor league teams.
If you’d like to work from home plate, all reservations must be made online at okcdodgers.com.
