Asbury United Methodist Church is opening their doors to become the newest COVID-19 vaccination site in the Tulsa area. They will begin their first round of eight weekends partnered with Passport Health on Saturday, February 6.
Church officials say although tomorrow is their first round of being a vaccine provider, they do plan to host clinics every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the next eight weeks.
Right now they are only able to do 500 appointments per vaccination day to people ages 65 and up. Those who are qualified can sign up through their registration portal on their website asburytulsa.org. They will not be accepting any walk-ins.
Once your appointment time arrives, the church asks that you come in the main entrance on the Mingo Rd. side, sign in, and staff will direct you to the vaccine location.
Director of Outreach Jim Davis said they are honored to be able to help Tulsans get vaccinated because they are always trying to be a ministry of service in any way.
“Passport Health received doses from the state and contacted us about being a partner on getting vaccines to people,” Davis said. “They want as many out as quickly as they can and Asbury has the capacity to help do that.”
He said Asbury has plenty of space for parking and accommodating people in a physically distanced way inside the building. Everyone is required to wear a mask while inside.
Davis said you can reach out for your appointment on the Asbury United Methodist Church website or go to their social media pages to find more information. New appointments will be made available weekly.
