Wednesday is an exciting day for the Mid-Del School District as they say they are working on getting 350 teachers vaccinated with their first dose by 3 p.m.
"This has been a long year. Everyone is very tired. We miss our kids a lot and we cannot wait to get back into the classroom the safest way possible," said Erin Harry, the District Health Coordinator.
Last Monday, 500 teachers and staff from the Mid-Del District were able to get their first shot from the IMMY Labs mega pod.
Wednesday, a little more than half of their district will have their first shot with this pod.
The school says that while it is a teacher's personal choice to be vaccinated, they still encourage everyone to get a shot.
Wednesday is a virtual day for the district.
The school hopes to make this process as simple as possible.
If teachers feel symptoms after the shot, the district says it will work with them to make sure they are not working.
Ralph Humphrey, the Mid-Del District teacher of the year, says getting the vaccine is a powerful thing for the peace of mind of students' parents.
"Could it be more convenient," said Humphrey. "I just connect with what I can do for my students and the families we serve."
Teachers and staff will be able to get their second dose in April.
