Emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatal accident on Highway 169 at 106th Street North in Owasso on Wednesday morning.
Owasso police identified 57-year-old Luis Garcia as the victim who was hit by a car and killed after a rollover accident ejected him from his vehicle.
According to Owasso police, officers responded to a report of a rollover crash involving a Ford Explorer around 6:30 a.m.
Police said that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 169 when it blew a tire causing the driver to swerve into the median where the vehicle then lost control and rolled over several times.
According to a police report, the vehicle rolled over across the southbound lanes of Highway 169 before coming to a stop in the grass between the southbound lanes and the service road.
Police said that Garcia was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The passenger of the vehicle, a family member of Garcia, was injured during the crash and is expected to recover.
"Witnesses on scene told us when they got here, he was still in the car," said Lieutenant Nick Boatman of Owasso Police. "I believe he was transported by an ambulance to a local hospital."
The driver of the vehicle who struck Garcia was questioned and released by police and no charges are expected to be filed.
Police say the accident is still under investigation.
