Eviction Moratorium Ending Soon: Resources To Help You

The nation is facing an eviction crisis and Oklahoma is no exception.

Community Cares Partners is a local organization here to help if you are on the verge of being evicted.

That moratorium ends March 31 as nearly 30,000 evictions are filed in the state. That means thousands of Oklahoma families are on the verge of homelessness. And while many have not been evicted yet, their rent is still racking up.

 "It doesn't wipe out rent that is owed. It just means people cannot be evicted because of this pandemic that is happening," said Axay Parekh, President of the Oklahoma Association of Realtors. "It has been a double-pronged problem." 

Oklahoma Community Cares Partners can provide rental assistance if you have lost your job or are facing hardship due to COVID-19. 

They work with state, local and tribal agencies to distribute emergency rental aid to Oklahomans.

You need to fill out the application and provide a valid ID, a recent utility bill, a copy of your lease, and your income or unemployment information.

They will review that information and get back to you if you're eligible for aid.

But there is no fee, so go ahead and apply soon!

Last year Community Cares Partners helped Oklahomans pay $21 million in rent and utility bills.

That's more than 5,600 households and 1,400 landlords.

Now, even more assistance is available after the American Rescue Plan passed.

OKCCP launched its applications this morning.
