Tulsa's mask mandate could be allowed to expire on April 30th.
Tulsa's Mayor G.T. Bynum said he met with public health leaders and the COVID-19 trends in Tulsa remain good.
"If these trends continue through the end of the month, the Health Department’s recommendation is that the City’s mask ordinance can expire as scheduled on April 30. I support this recommendation," Bynum said.
Bynum said if the ordinance expires on April 30, it will end "the mandate for masks in public places, the spacing requirement in restaurants, and the requirement of safety plans for events over 150 people. Expiration of this ordinance will not limit the ability of private businesses and property owners to require masks in their establishments."
However, the executive order "requiring all restaurant and bar employees to wear masks at work, and requiring an approved safety plan for events over 500 people in attendance" will remain in place, Bynum announced.
Mayor Bynum stated that public health officials recommended those regulation to remain until herd immunity is reached.
