A 1964 Daytona replica race car will be featured in The Mecum Auction at River Spirit Expo at Expo Square next month. The journey to get to this point has taken quite a bit of time, but all the money made will be donated to a good cause.
"We are at Larry Goins’ shop in Skiatook America. He is an amazing man. He gives back," said Paul Hood.
This is not your average car.
"It is a 1964 Daytona Replica race car," said Hood.
It has been worked on and worked on and worked on - and she is finally ready to ride.
"Originally COVID kind of messed it up because my buddy Larry Goins and I were repairing and upgrading this car and we were going to take it to Vegas to be at a Mecum Auto Auction,” Hood said. “We were going to give it to a couple of charities and then COVID came along and cancelled all of those auctions.”
Their plan has now come full circle.
"This car will be the featured car in the auction on the 12th for charity, there is no reserve and all the money is going to go to St Jude's," said Hood. "This should sell for $80- 90,000 dollars, we are hoping."
This is a cause close to both Hood and Goins’ hearts- they have each have seen firsthand, the burdens carried by parents who have a sick child.
"St Jude's is an amazing charity that takes care for people, takes that burden off of them and we are excited that Hood and Associates CPA gets to play a role in that," said Hood.
They wanted to do what they could, to eliminate some of that weight. Since they both love cars, their idea was perfect.
"To be able to live the American dream and then to give back and help other people; to be able to help take the financial burden off of these parents when they have to deal with so much stuff," said Paul, "It is an amazing feeling to be able to share and give back."
