Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and relatives of two murder victims asked for the public’s help on Friday for leads on the one-year anniversary of the tragic crime.

Investigators continue looking for the gunman who sped away from the Spencer home where Dominique Knight and Madison Carter died last year. It was a day that changed their families forever.

Investigators said in a press conference they want the suspect or suspects to know they will never stop looking for them. They said the families deserve answers and justice.

On May 21, 2020, gunshots were heard in a Spencer neighborhood just after 2 a.m. Investigators have since established a timeline and said the driver of a dark-colored car was the shooter. The car was caught on camera speeding away with the lights off only seconds after the gunshots.

But that was where the leads went cold.

“There was hardly any physical evidence, per say, there,” said Sgt. Paul Harmon, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office. “It was a walk up and shoot and then leave. They didn’t touch anything, leave anything.”

Knight and Carter were shot and killed in their driveway. Investigators still do not have a clear motive for the deadly shootings.

“They were home sitting in their car kind of minding their own business. They were eating something when they were brutally shot to death,” said Harmon.

The men left behind children and families who continue to re-live that tragic day.

"The morning we received the most devastating news a mother or father could ever receive; the news that our son had been murdered. To say that this transition in life has been difficult would be an understatement," Carter's parents said in a statement.

Knight's mother calls investigators several times a month, hoping for answers.

“It’s heartbreaking to try and update her with no new information,” said Sgt. Sabrina Tice, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.

That is why investigators Harmon and Tice are asking for the public’s help.

“Usually, a little bit of time passing makes people a little more comfortable to come out and talk,” said Tice.

If you have information that could help investigators, call the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office at 405-713-1000. Callers may remain anonymous.
