Gentner Drummond, 57, issued a statement saying in part, “I believe it's more important now than ever to uphold the rule of law and protect the Constitutional, God-given rights of all Oklahomans."

Drummond previously ran against Hunter in 2018, a tight race that resulted in a runoff election. Despite close margins the Republican candidate from Tulsa ultimately conceded.

If elected to serve as the state’s top law enforcement officer, Drummond said he plans to put the concerns of Oklahomans before personal interests.

"I have always put service to country and community first," Drummond said. "When my nation called, I didn't hesitate. I was taught to lead when duty calls."
