Improvements to Highway 20 at Keetonville Hill between Owasso and Claremore are underway.
Blasting operations were scheduled Tuesday as crews work on a new section of Highway 20 that will cross over the top of Keetonville Hill.
The new section will be a smoother curve with more lanes that bypasses the existing road and reconnects to the highway west of the hill.
ODOT said these upgrades are much needed because of how dangerous the north side of the hill can be for drivers. They said debris from storms and mudslides are not uncommon.
The $44 million project is scheduled to wrap up next summer.
