Tulsa Police have arrested a Tulsa attorney who has been charged with one count of rape.

Investigators said they interviewed six women who say they were sexually assaulted by Tulsa Attorney Jeffrey Krigel dating back to 2005.

"The evidence shows that this is a serial offender," said Lt. Darin Ehrenrich, Tulsa Police Special Victims Unit.

The affidavit said five of the six women told police they had been in a relationship with Krigel.

"When people look at rape and think about rape - the first thing that comes to mind is someone jumping out of the shadows on the jogging trail with a gun or a knife - when the overwhelming statistical likelihood is if you're going to be sexually assaulted, you're going to be sexually assaulted by someone that is known to you," Lt. Ehrenrich said.

Ehrenrich said the first woman said she met Krigel while in college in Texas in 2005.

"We would not be able to prosecute this crime without the bravery of those victims coming forward," Lt. Ehrenrich said.

Their investigation began in May. Investigators said some of the allegations include Krigel insisting on rough sex, even when the women said no. They said some of the women said Krigel had sex with them while they were asleep and some said, he forcefully refused to let them go or pinned them down during the assaults.

"The crime in and of itself is the most heinous aspect to me,” Lt. Ehrenrich said.

Krigel was arrested Friday afternoon by the Tulsa Police fugitive squad after a search warrant was served at his home.

Detectives are asking if there are additional victims, for them to please contact police. News On 6 left a message at Krigel’s office and emailed him to get a statement.
