A pavement project on Highway 20 in Claremore started on Tuesday.
The Oklahoma Department Of Transportation's $4.6 million project will replace the pavement on Highway 20 between Route 66 and the Will Rogers Turnpike.
Claremore city leaders said drivers should plan for delays, especially during rush hour. They said east and westbound lanes will be narrowed to one lane during the project, and some side streets will be closed off at different times throughout the project.
They said any house or business that doesn’t have another non-highway entrance will remain open.
ODOT said the project is scheduled to wrap up by Spring of 2022.
