After the state Board of Education's decision, much of the Western Heights Public Schools administration remained silent in Monday night's school board meeting.
The state board decided to take over the district on Monday.
They plan on implementing several changes including:
Many parents at Monday's Western Heights school board meeting were enthusiastic about the changes being made to the district.
Briana Flatley, a member of the school board, agreed and said the state's decision is a needed step in the right direction.
"Now, this district has the help that it needs and can finally get back on track for these students, for these educators and for the staff here. It's a step in the right direction," she said.
Even with the new steps to intervene, the state Board of Education has made it clear that it's not over for Western Heights administration.
They said there are still criminal complaints that are being investigated.
