Lawsuit Filed Against Lyft & Former Driver Accused Of Rape

A former Lyft and Uber driver charged with raping a customer is now being sued along with the company he worked for.

According to court records, the suit is seeking more than $75,000 in damages.

While Tim Greene has remained behind bars since his arrest in May for that 2021 rape allegation-- the lawsuit is tied to a 2019 allegation.

His ex-girlfriend believes he's wrongly accused.

“My family loved him, my friends loved him, they are all in shock,” said ex-girlfriend Rhonda Foster Hill.

Greene is currently being sued for a 2019 incident. A Lyft customer accused Greene of raping her.

A civil suit filed July 16, alleges Lyft and Greene "had a duty to abstain from injuring Plaintiff," it also said "Lyft had a duty not to design, manufacture, or sell a dangerous product."

The suit also addresses charges filed against Greene in May 2021 on complaints of kidnapping and rape in the first-degree.

Court documents state in that incident- that Greene, at the time, an Uber driver picked a woman up from a bar in Edmond. When the victim got in the car, investigators said she was raped and never taken home.

“You think in these types of situations you’d be safe but in this day in age I don’t know if we are ever safe anymore.” said Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux.

Greene's now ex-girlfriend of five years, Foster Hill said they've remained in touch since breaking up, and said he's not capable of hurting anyone.

“You couldn't ask for a nicer person. he's smart, real quiet, he doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body,” said Foster Hill

Foster Hill said following his arrest, she reached out to Greene.

“He just said he's innocent and of course we all believe him,” said Foster Hill. 

She said just months before his arrest she visited with him, and he talked about his plans for the future.

“When I talked to him in April, he was planning on starting law school,” said Foster Hill.

No charges were filed in the 2019 incident.

Right now, Greene is jailed on a half-million-dollar bond for the 2021 charges.

Uber fired him after his arrest.
