Ascension announced it will require all its associates nationwide to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Ascension said this requirement applies to all employees and associates, whether or not they provide direct patient care, or work remotely. They also said it includes people employed by subsidiaries and partners, as well as volunteers and vendors that enter their facilities.
Ascension health systems operate in 19 states in the U.S., including many sites across Oklahoma.
In a statement, Ascension said in part, “Ascension conducted a thorough moral and ethical analysis as part of the decision-making process. This decision is rooted in our Mission commitment to leading with quality and safety. As a healthcare provider and as a Catholic ministry, ensuring we have a culture of safety for our associates, patients and communities is foundational to our work.”
Officials said the goal is to have all associates vaccinated by Nov. 12, 2021.
