Tulsans can now get a COVID-19 test without leaving their homes and the results come back in a matter of minutes.

“I needed to get tested and I don’t drive, so the mobile testing has really helped me out a lot and all you have to do is call, get an appointment and they’ll come right to your front door," said Melissa Banks.

Banks' rapid COVID-19 test is one of dozens that nurse Evelyn Whitworth will administer and she's getting busier by the hour. The tests are free for people who use the code provided from the Tulsa Health Department.

“Getting them to their home helps people get back into the work place without missing too many wages. We’ve been able to help a variety of people who don’t have transportation, people who are unable to drive or immobile or home bound," said Whitworth.

Whitworth started the Mobile COVID-19 Testing business in December.

“I just saw the opportunity, saw the gaps last year and I thought, 'I’m going to be the one' and I was like, if I don’t do this, if I don’t take advantage of this opportunity, I will just never forgive myself," said Whitworth.

She's thankful to be able to provide a service to people who might otherwise fall through the healthcare cracks. Whitworth said you can't use the free testing for travel purposes.
