Okmulgee Public Schools is switching to distance learning due to rising COVID-19 cases within the district.
The district said it hopes to bring everyone back in person on September 7th.
Okmulgee Public Schools said all teachers and support staff who have not tested positive or are not in quarantine are still required to be on campus this week. They say while they plan on bringing students back the day after Labor Day, they are encouraging parents to monitor their children closely and be aware of any symptoms that may appear.
The district asks that parents alert the school if their child tests positive for COVID-19.
There will still be breakfast and lunch meals available for pickup at Okmulgee schools every day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to the district, all extracurricular activities and sports practices are canceled this week and all facilities are closed for deep cleaning and sanitizing.
The district said it plans on having chrome books and hotspots available for pickup on Tuesday, but says that could change and suggests parents keep an eye on their email.
