Fall horse racing is starting up soon at the Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs in Claremore.

27 races are scheduled this fall, all worth over $600,000 in prize money.

The season will kick off on September 11 with a doubleheader, which will include a race that features the top two-year-old Quarter horses in the country going 350 yards.

There are several more racing events scheduled for the fall. Races will post at noon every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until the final weekend of the season.

The season wraps up the weekend of November 13, with several races including the Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Derby Final and the Black Gold Oaks Championship Final.

Spectators will be allowed to watch the races in the stands with every third row blocked off for social distancing. The Cherokee Casino said masks are recommended, but not required.
