El Reno High School is pausing football activities after learning one of its players tested positive for COVID-19 and a player from last week's opponent also contracted the virus.

Due to the positive case and previous exposure, the program will not play its Friday night game against Piedmont as well as next Friday's matchup versus Weatherford.

El Reno Public Schools said contact tracing allowed for exposed players and coaches to be quarantined in accordance with its return to school plan.

The team learned it had been exposed to a player on the Cache football team six days after playing the Bulldogs on the road in Comanche County.

All of the program's Homecoming activities have since been moved to Oct. 1 when El Reno hosts Lawton MacArthur on the football field.
