Authorities are on scene of an explosion that led to a fatality Wednesday in Minco.

The explosion, which was confirmed by Grady County Emergency Management, happened at Firestone Trucking, Inc. on 23 Main Street.

Grady County Emergency Management said the 911 call came in about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

They said a welder was working on the end cap of a tanker truck when it exploded. The explosion killed the welder instantly.

The trucking company is right by a neighborhood and neighbors said thought the explosion was an earthquake.

Businesses in the area felt it, as well. Damian Gilland said there was a loud boom and it shook the whole town.

“We were all working and running our machines, and it was just like a big, huge concussion, like all the way through the building, and you could see it. It was like wall-to-wall and we all shut everything down," he said.

Gilland said he walked outside and several other people working in the area did as well to try to figure out what happened.
