The Free Food Pantry Needs Help To Keep OKC Families Fed

Thousands of businesses, programs and nonprofits are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In Oklahoma City, a nonprofit that has been helping families in the metro for 30 years says they are at their breaking point. 

"Right now, we are on the very bottom of the barrel," said Sister Mable Stoss with The Free Food Pantry, INC & Educational Center. 

For years you could see Sister Mable out in the community serving others with an endless number of awards to prove her dedicated service to Oklahomans. 

"We assist families and individuals that are in devastating situations," said Sister Mable. 

The Free Food Pantry helps families with food assistance and provides a place for those struggling to seek help. 

"We have programs where the ladies can dress for success and get back to the workforce. We have people that call the office that are trying to make a positive transition in their life," said Sister Mable. 

One of the most important events of the year, Thanksgiving baskets. 

"Turkey, ham, stuffing cranberry sauce, and sometimes sweet potatoes," said Sister Mable.  "This year is really in the air. We really do not know what we are going to do at this present time." 

In years past, Sister Mable and dozens of volunteers lend their hand, making Thanksgiving as normal as possible for over 300 families struggling. 

"Were saying our prayers that we do get enough funds in where we can continue," said Sister Mable.
