Students at the Tulsa Dream Center said they love the new STEM Center because they just do not have these types of activities at their schools.
“It’s not often that resources like this are brought to our community,” said Tim Newton.
Tim Newton is the Executive Director at the Tulsa Dream Center.
He said he’s watched a “spark” go off in the minds of these students because they are so excited about this new way of learning science, technology, engineering and math. And fittingly for the Tulsa Dream Center, he’s seen students dream big.
“They are realizing the potentials on the inside of them, and we’re offering the tools to for those potentials to come to life,” said Newton.
He said it wouldn’t be possible without Devon Energy’s investment in the Tulsa community.
He said this gift is going to change lives for the better and have a positive impact for generations.
“It’s so important that we teach these kids that they can be successful in STEM. We want them to feel empowered, we want them to feel confident, so that they can go on and do even more education,“ said Christina Rehkop, Director of Community Relations at Devon Energy.
Devon Energy has placed these STEM Centers in several Tulsa elementary schools, but this is the first STEM Center to be placed in an after-school program.
