Bixby Public Schools announces it will be closed this Wednesday, November 3, due to a shortage of bus drivers.
The district says eight drivers are out due to a combination of medical and personal issues.
On Wednesday, all schools in the district will be closed with no distance learning. The district will announce more details on Tuesday.
In a statement to Bixby families and staff, Bixby Superintendent Rob Miller said "Our transportation department currently is down eight bus drivers due to a combination of medical and personal issues. Regrettably, the district is unable to cover all of these routes with our available employees. Due to this temporary shortage, all schools in BPS will be CLOSED this Wednesday, November 3. This will NOT be a distance learning day. This day is needed to train drivers to handle additional routes and prepare for an alternate bus schedule over the next two weeks. More detailed information will be shared tomorrow, but we wanted you to have as much time as possible to make plans. We apologize for this inconvenience. “
