A Tulsa boy scout troop has no equipment or tools for their trips after someone pulled up to their trailer, cut the cable, and took the whole thing.
Troop 945 Scout leaders said the boy scouts just finished big improvements on the trailer and it was their home base every time they go camping, so now they just want to see it returned. Scout leaders for the 40 boys in Troop 945 said they have a great group of young men.
They meet weekly, learn a lot of life skills, and look forward to their monthly camping trips the most.
"We meet on a weekly basis, go camping once a month," said Philip Maud. "That trailer is our home base."
Everything the scouts need for their trips is in their trailer, and it goes everywhere with them.
"Stoves, tents popups, tables, kitchen equipment," said Ryan Knight, "It all adds up."
Thursday morning, someone in a white truck pulled up, got out, attached the trailer, and drove off with it. It was parked outside the Fellowship Lutheran church near 71st and Sheridan. They left the troop's other trailer behind.
"Disappointment and anger are the two emotions," Knight said.
The boys had just finished adding big improvements too, like new lights with solar panels, stoves, and shelves. Committee Chair Ryan Knight says it's worth around $10000.
"It's a gut punch," said Scoutmaster Philip Maud. "You're in a bit of shock. Somebody stole a scout trailer, really?"
Maud said they have a trip planned in two weeks and the boys are still trying to find a way to go even without the trailer. They hope and pray someone knows where it is.
"The silver lining is just seeing the scouts' response," Knight said.
