The Del City Police Department is asking the public for help identifying four suspects after they allegedly fired a gunshot towards a civilian while driving in a stolen car.
Maj. Bradley Rule said the civilian called 911 on Nov. 10 after seeing an erratic driver, which the civilian was following in their own car.
“He began chasing the vehicle, chasing them through the neighborhood and so forth,” Rule said. “And he said at one point, one of the occupants held out a gun and fired a shot at him.”
The civilian told police a passenger in the car used a handgun to shoot at them during their pursuit. The gunshot did not strike the civilian or their vehicle.
A video captured by a home security camera shows the suspect vehicle stopping at the corner of S.E. 19th St. and Ina Mae Ave. Four suspects immediately run from the car.
Three suspects ran south on Ina Mae Ave., and a fourth ran east towards the home of Crystal Wright.
Wright said the incident “is kind of scary. It’s really close to home and my son is normally out here playing basketball.”
Officers later found a handgun believed to be involved in the incident on a front lawn near the scene.
“We collected some other evidence out of the vehicle, and we’ve sent that along with a firearm for fingerprints and DNA to OSBI to identify who these people are,” Rule said. “In the meantime, we’re asking for the public’s help. If they’ve seen the video and they recognize anyone in the video, call and let us know.”
Del City police do not recommend anyone follow a driver who is driving erratically.
If you have any information please call the Del City Police Department.
