OWASSO, Oklahoma -

The Owasso School Board has named Dr. Margaret Coates as its interim Superintendent.

According to the School Board, Coates previously served as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning for three years prior to her retirement in June 2021. Coates also worked with the district as an assistant principal. She worked under and will now replace Dr. Amy Fichtner.

Dr. Fichtner resigned in early November after three years as Superintendent.
