A grandmother and her family are devastated about the loss of her two-month-old grandson.
Investigators arrested the baby’s father for murder this week.
The baby’s mother was in the hospital with COVID and now the baby’s father is facing a murder charge. Angie Boyett said her grandson should still be here; his life had just begun. She said right now she's finding strength from her family and church friends.
Logan was just two and a half months old. Boyett is his maternal grandma. She is holding on to the precious things that represent his short life, like his blanket, and his clothes.
"This was his favorite outfit,” she said as she held up a red and gray striped onesie.
She said she also just bought him a special Christmas outfit.
“He won't ever get to wear it,” she said.
Boyett said the day before Logan died, the hospital honored his life in a unique way, with a mold of his left hand for the family to cherish.
"It's like he's waving at us, like, ‘Hey I’m right here; I’m right here,’” she said.
Born premature, Logan spent about half his life in the NICU, before coming home to his family.
"He'd only been home a month,” Boyett said.
Then, Boyett said, the unimaginable happened, leaving the family devastated, and wondering why.
"He was loved,” she said. “He was loved so much."
Family pictures fill Boyett’s living room -- a constant reminder of their love for Logan.
"Every memory is precious. We will hold onto them forever, forever,” Boyett said.
